The Northstar 1599 at Siebert Field
The Northstar 1599 at Siebert Field is a successful reuse and expansion of a 1915 era warehouse, it is is a phase II project constructed after successful Northstar 1611 building located next door. When purchased by the owners the brick warehouse was being leased to various commercial tenants but considering its close proximity to the University of Minnesota the location was better suited to student apartments. With the success of the Northstar 1611 building on our heels Crowe Construction Management and the owners worked together to develop another plan for smart high end rental housing that would have large apartments and a well thought out common space for the students of both buildings and owners to enjoy.

The Northstar 1611 at Siebert Field
Located in a tucked away place just one block from the U of MN main campus entrance in the vibrant Dinytown neighborhood this building was an undiscovered gem. Developers Shelby Jackson purchased the hundred year old extremely derelict warehouse property with hope that a renovation was possible and then turned to Crowe Construction Management, specialists in difficult renovations. Crowe Construction Management helped to devise a plan for an extensive remodel that encompassed adding two additional floors on the existing brick structure making five floors of residential student housing possible with an attached annexed block building to be used as indoor parking. Collaborative Design Group was the architect and structural engineer of record.

The Fitzgerald Building
This historic building popularly known for its location next to the famous Fitzgerald Theater where Garrison Keillor performs his "Prairie Home Companion" show was remodeled in 2005 to house modern style boutique condos. The first floor of the building is for commercial use with the remaining five floors containing 40 small condo units. Crowe Construction Management oversaw the facelift to this historic building as well as the design of the unique European style condos ranging from 320 to 750 square feet. Each unit contains a full kitchen, fireplace and Murphy style bed to maximize space. Additionally, units have a unique floor plan, grand windows and large modern closets with high ceilings providing volume. The Fitzgerald condos were successfully designed to be light, affordable and efficient. The Fitzgerald was nominated for the Restoration of the Year in 2005.
The Produce Exchange Building
The Produce Exchange Building was one of the first successful condo projects in St. Paul completed without public assistance. Crowe Construction Management created 38 stunning condos with distinct floor plans, open ceilings, large new windows and exposed brick walls in the units. The heavily used wood floors were restored to capture 100 years of history sealed in creating a rich look impossible in new construction. Commercial space is on the first floor and was completed in 2003.

Hinkle Murphy Mansion
The historic Hinkle Murphy Mansion was a failed project that the City of Minneapolis was ready to call in their bonds on. Crowe Construction Management was brought in to preserve this project. In a very short time frame we were able to complete the project within the original budget. This restoration started the resurgence of the Elliot Park Neighborhood.

Covered opened an additional store in uptown in May 2008! Covered specializes in premium denim and the new Uptown location has great men's clothing as well.
Covered is an exciting new little boutique specializing in designer denim located in Dinkytown, built-out in 2006. Owner and fashionista Stacy Larson trusted Crowe Construction Management to build her a store that reflected her hip style. The current boutique bears no resemblance to the original vacant space as the tiny 550 square foot area was completely demolished removing all elements of cheap build-outs throughout the years. The floor was stripped down to the original wood and ceilings removed to reveal its hidden volume. Custom cabinets were designed by Peabody Enterprises to display chick denim and a classy system of wires and rods was developed to effectively hang merchandise maximizing space. The efficient space makes a savvy backdrop to Stacy's designer styles.

Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists (SPCPA)
The Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists is a very successful new charter high school for students interested in the performing arts such as music and dance. The school, which began in 2005 has grown dramatically since its inception requiring creative expansion of space.
In 2007 Crowe Construction Management was hired to build out additional classroom space for students at the Lowry Building and it was completed on time and on budget. Not more than one year later with admission nearly doubling thanks to a great program and smart administration - the school was in need for more classroom space!
Again SPCPA hired Crowe Construction Management to help them with their new expansion and keeping costs low for this start-up school. Through a collaborated team effort Crowe began construction immediately in order to have the space ready for the August 15, 2009 occupancy deadline.
The new space is located on the skyway level of a commercial/residential building and great thought was given to the interior space sound and corridor needs so that students are able to move efficiently between classes. The new space has a large movement room with rubber flooring and grand scale operable windows. Colors and materials are sophisticated and professional as this school further differentiates itself from the typical high school primary color scheme design.
Crowe was able to help the school coordinate a great purchase of barely used chemistry tables, cabinets, sinks and an otherwise very expensive fume hood to re-use which saved the school thousands of dollars.
Currently construction is under way and on schedule. We are very excited to have the school right next door to Crowe Construction Management’s offices as the children bring vitality and joy to the office culture of downtown St. Paul.
